Description:
Dental hygienists provide direct patient care including initial patient screenings, prophylaxis and other relevant preventative procedures, periodontal therapy (including adjunctive procedures), counseling/advising patients on oral health best practices, nutrition and nicotine cessation. The Dental Hygienist should be reliable, have deep understanding of dental procedures, establish trust with patients of all ages and always conduct him/herself in a professional manner. The Dental Hygienist must be able to professionally collaborate with doctors, other hygienists and team members in the dental practice.
Qualifications:
- Valid Colorado hygiene license
- CPR certified
- Clinical experience in a dental practice preferred
- In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations of the dental profession (HIPAA, OSHA, CDC etc.)
- Computer/practice management software proficiency preferred

Duties
- Identify and document oral diseases and anomalies
- Perform Routine dental hygiene & periodontal treatment procedures
- Assist clinical team where needed with typical procedures such as taking X-rays, impressions or scans, recording patent vitals, updating medical history, administering local anesthetic (where legally and licensed to perform), charting, intra oral photos, and assisting with any other clinical procedures within legal scope of practice
- Place sealants
- Assisting with setup, breakdown, maintenance, clean-up, proper sterilization or other preparation of hygiene rooms and equipment & instruments daily
- Patient education and post operative instructions
- Follow-up patient communication when necessary (email or telephone)
- Accurately record patient chart notes and other documentation
Office Participation
- Be an active participant in staff meetings
- Perform other tasks as assigned by office manager

- Good interpersonal skills to maintain effective rapport with patients, dentists, other staff members and community
- Effective verbal skills to communicate with patients and staff
