Orthodontics for a Straight Smile

Orthodontics can completely change the way you bite, chew, and speak. If your teeth are crowded, spaced too far apart, meet in an abnormal way, or don’t meet at all, orthodontic treatment may be a great option for you.

If you have ever been diagnosed with one of these dental issues, you may benefit from orthodontics:

A crossbite is when one or more of your upper teeth bite on the inside of your lower teeth.

An open bite occurs when your top front teeth do not cover your bottom teeth when you bite down.

An overbite occurs when the upper front teeth protrude over the lower front teeth.

Overjet is sometime also referred to as protrusion. An overject occurs when the lower teeth are too far behind the upper front teeth.

An underbite is when your bottom teeth protrude out past your top teeth.

Many people believe the only way to a straight smile is by wearing traditional braces for two to three years, but at Ruby Canyon Dental, we are excited to bring you state-of-the art orthodontic options that can shorten your treatment.

Six Month Smiles® Adult Braces

Six Month Smiles Braces - Ruby Canyon Dental

Do you cover your smile because of crooked teeth? Have you considered orthodontics but just couldn’t commit to wearing traditional braces for several years? Now we have an impressive alternative to braces. Six Month Smiles straightens your teeth in the shortest time possible — just six to nine months!

Six Month Smiles uses clear braces and thin wires that are much less noticeable than traditional metal braces. These braces also use a low-force process that doesn’t make permanent changes to your bite, which usually results in a more comfortable treatment. Best of all, Six Month Smiles requires fewer adjustment appointments so you will only need to come to the office a handful of times.

Invisalign® Clear Aligner Therapy

Invisalign Invisible Braces - Ruby Canyon Dental

Don’t spend another day dreaming about a straight smile. Let us help you create the smile of your dreams with Invisalign clear aligners.

Invisalign uses a series of invisible, removable, custom-made aligners to gradually reposition your teeth. Because the aligners are removable, you can eat your favorite foods and brush your teeth normally without affecting your overall treatment time. The best part is that the clear aligner is so subtle that most people won’t even realize you’re wearing them — noticeable results without noticeable braces!

The Invisalign Process

You will wear each set of aligners (plastic trays) for about two weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. At each follow-up appointment, you will receive another set of aligners that will pick up where the last set of aligners left off in the treatment plan. This gradual shift of the teeth is easy, comfortable, and very effective. We will continue this plan little by little until we have created your beautifully straight smile.

Invisalign Braces - Ruby Canyon Dental

During the Invisalign process, you’ll visit Ruby Canyon Dental about once every eight to twelve weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned. Typically treatment times average nine to fifteen months.

Teeth Straightening FAQs

How does the Six Month Smiles procedure differ from the Invisalign procedure?

Six Month Smiles utilizes a bracket and wire system to straighten the teeth that show when you smile. Because of this, Six Month Smiles is generally a shorter orthodontic treatment compared to Invisalign. Another differing factor is that Invisalign uses a series of clear plastic retainer trays to straighten teeth over time. When you visit our office for a consultation, we'll discuss your teeth straightening options to help you decide which option is right for you and your smile!

What can I eat after getting Six Month Smiles?

It's common for patients to experience slight sensitivity and soreness after getting their Six Month Smiles braces. However, these symptoms are temporary and shouldn't last long. In the meantime, we recommend that patients stick to a soft food diet for a few days to limit any discomfort following their appointment.

How do I take care of my Invisalign retainers?

Since you wear your Invisalign retainers every day, bacteria can cling to them and cause oral infections and tooth decay. In order to maintain great oral hygiene, it's important to properly clean your retainers at least once a day. You can either soak them in a retainer cleaner or give them a gentle scrub with a toothbrush. We also recommend that you always put your retainers in their designated box when you aren't wearing them instead of placing them down on other surfaces. This will cut back on the amount of bacteria on them and also prevent you from misplacing them or accidentally throwing them away.
