Not all of us a born with a perfect smile, but that’s what veneers are for! Porcelain dental veneers can help even out the shape, size, and color of your teeth, giving you the smile of your dreams.
What Are Dental Veneers?
Dental veneers are thin layers of material that your dentist bonds to your teeth. They are usually made of porcelain or a resin composite. The shape and color are completely customizable to your individual treatment plan.
Dental veneers are a great option for those that have small gaps between their teeth, chipped teeth, teeth of different lengths, misaligned teeth, or discolored teeth. They are permanent and require partial removal of your tooth in order to fit properly.
Dental Veneer Procedure
Before you begin the process, you will set up a consultation with your dentist to determine if dental veneers are right for you and, if so, what your specific procedure will entail.
Your dentist will first trim the teeth that are getting veneers. You may or may not be administered a light anesthetic during the procedure. After trimming your teeth, your dentist will take impressions of your teeth to make the perfect veneers for you. It takes about two weeks for your veneers to be complete. You may have temporary veneers placed in your mouth while you wait for the final ones to be complete.
During your next visit, your temporary veneer will be removed if you have one. Your dentist will make sure that your permanent veneers are the ideal shape, size, and color for your teeth, and then proceed with the final bonding process. Then you’re done! You will have a follow-up appointment about a week after your procedure, but once the veneer is in place, you can resume your normal routine.
